Our Investment Criteria

  • Process and timing

The investment decision process involves answering numerous questions that arise during the due diligence process, but the core approach involves the following elements:

Review of the Company’s business plan

Reference checks on the management team

Discussing the Company’s required key hires, if any

    Examining the competitive landscape

    Understanding key milestones

Reviewing information regarding any proprietary technology including patents, licenses or joint development agreements

Understanding the Company’s existing, potential and targeted key strategic partners and relationships

Understanding the existing capitalization including all outstanding options and warrants

Reviewing all material agreements including those with strategic partners, customers or other contractual relationships

It is important that the diligence and valuation process be measured in days, not weeks, particularly for the most exciting deals. Upon completion of due diligence, all investment professionals come to a general consensus before Bennu proceeds in the investment process.

  • What are we looking for?

Perhaps the most important criteria that Bennu evaluates is the management team of a business. The best ideas do not execute themselves. Leaders with vision, a commitment to quality, endless energy and a deep-seated belief in the future success of their businesses are able to overcome the numerous challenges and the many obstacles faced by young companies. Leaders, however, cannot perform every function within an organization. Any leader must be complemented by equally talented individuals with whom he or she has worked before. A cohesive, senior management team is important to making decisions quickly and working effectively as a seamless unit in driving the business forward.

    Companies with sustainable competitive advantages.

Strong management teams with both substantial domain expertise and a history of building enterprises.

Sound business models with the opportunity for rapid growth and high operating margins.

Robust operating plans with clear milestones to guide the ascent and manage growth.

The potential for market leadership in a sizable and growing market.
